He composed an unaccompaniedmassfor eight-voicedsplit choir(1922) and a few other small sacred works before coming to public attention withEt in Terra Pax(1945), anoratoriofor five soloists, eight-voiced split choir, and orchestra commissioned for the moment when World War II ended. He followed this withGolgotha(1948), a kind ofpassionfor five soloists, choir, and orchestra. Other major works include thePseaumes de Genève("GenevanPsalms, 1958), anoratorioPilate(1964), and aRequiem(1973) for four soloists, chorus, and orchestra.
