BRONZINO, AGNOLO

(1503-1572)
Florentinepainter of the late sixteenth century, court painter to Duke Cosimo I de'Medici. He also had a reputation as a poet. Classed among the Italianmanneristartists by modern art historians, he is best known for his portraits, such as the portrait of Duchess Eleanora of Toledo and her son Giovanni, wife and son of his patron Duke Cosimo.
