KURIGALZU II

(reigned 1332–1308 B.C.)
Kassite king of Babylon. According to a Babylonian Chronicle, Kurigalzu was put on the throne by the Assyrian king Ashur-uballit I to replace the usurper Nazi-Bugash. This did not stop him from attacking Assyria in later years, an enterprise that did not succeed and resulted in the loss of Babylonian territories. A campaign against Elam, however, resulted in victory.
