UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION 3379

On 10 November 1975, theUnited Nations(UN) General Assembly, by a vote of 72 in favor and 35 against with 32 abstentions, adopted Resolution 3379, which, inter alia "determines thatZionismis a form of racism and discrimination." The passage of the "Zionism Is Racism"resolutionmarked a nadir in Israel's relationship with the UN. On 16 December 1991, a brief statement in the General Assembly revoking the resolution was supported by 111 countries, but the statement revoking the resolution was opposed by mostArabstates, which either voted against or were absent from the General Assembly chamber when the vote was called.
