FREE CENTER PARTY

Political partyfounded by Shmuel Tamir in 1967, when he and two otherKnessetmembers split from theHerutParty because of ideological differences. In 1973, the Free Center rejoined Herut. Subsequently, the larger portion of the Free Center, excluding Tamir, joined the La'am faction (organized in 1977) withinLikud. Tamir joinedYi-gaelYadin'sDemocratic Movement for Change.
