NAVEH, DANNY

Likud Partymember of theKnessetand government minister. Born in 1960, he graduated from the faculty of law atHebrew University of Jerusalem. He served as an advisor to Likud'sMoshe Arensduring his tenures as foreign minister and defense minister in the 1980s. From June 1996 to July 1999, he served ascabinetsecretary for the government headed byBenjamin Netanyahu. In this capacity, he served for a time as head of the Israeli team in negotiations with thePalestinianstoward implementing theOslo Accords. Elected for the first time to the 15th Knesset in 1999, on the Likud list, he served as minister without portfolio from March 2001 to December 2002 and as minister ofindustryand trade from December 2002 until February 2003. He was reelected to the 16th Knesset in February 2003 and was appointed minister of health. In 2006, he was reelected to the 17th Knesset.
