The daughter ofMoshe Dayan, she was born inNahalal,Palestine. She was anIsrael Labor Partymember of theKnessetfrom 1992 to 2003. She joinedMeretzin 1991 and helped to found the Meretz faction. A writer and journalist by profession, she was also an outspoken peace activist, civil libertarian, and feminist. She became deputy mayor ofTel Avivin 2004, representing theYahad-Social Democratic Israelparty. Among her publications is a biography of her fatherMy Father,His Daughter. Dayan remains actively engaged in Israel's peace movement and feminist causes.
