CUNNINGHAM, ALAN GORDON

(1887-1983 )
Born in Dublin, he was a soldier who served as the last British high commissioner forPalestine. He had a distinguished military career, achieving the rank of general and being appointed high commissioner for Palestine in 1945. He left Palestine on 14 May 1948, when the mandate ended and the state of Israel declared its independence.
