Director. Stückl became well known for his direction of the OberammergauPassionspiele(passion play), which he directed twice, first in 1990 and a decade later in 2000. In both productions, he was responsible for updating and revising the play; in the minds of many, he improved it as well. Prior to his work in Oberammergau, Stückl worked at theMunichKammerspiele underDieter Dorn, and in the early 1990s he became the theater's chief director. In 2002 he restagedHugo vonHofmannsthal'sJedermann(Everyman) for the Salzburg Festival, and since that year he has beenintendantof the Munich Volkstheater.
