Actress. Krones is best remembered for her work withFerdinand RaimundinVienna. She began acting at age five with her father's touring troupe and as a teenager played numerous soubrette roles in Austrian provincial theaters. She was engaged at the Theater in der Leopoldstadt in 1821 and soon became one of Vienna's favorite actresses in roles byJoseph Alois Gleich, Karl Meisl,Adolf Bäuerle, and other identifiably Viennese playwrights. Krones's work with Raimund began withDer Diamant des Geisterkönigs(The Fairy Kings Diamond) in 1824, followed byDas Mädchen aus der Feenwelt(The Girl from the Fairy World) in 1827, which Raimund wrote for her. HisDie gefesselte Phantasie(The Imagination Enchained) andDer Alpenkönig und der Menschenfeind(The Alpine King and the Misanthrope) followed in 1829. Her premature death at age 29 was an occasion of mourning throughout Vienna.
