Cinematographer, director, producer, and screenwriter. Claude Lelouch began his career by forming his own production company, Les Films 13, in 1960. He went on to produce his own films, the first feature beingLe propre de l'homme(1961), in which he also stars. Lelouch is best known for his filmUn homme et une femme(1966), which won a Golden Palm atCannesand an Oscar for Best Foreign Film and Best Original Screenplay. He was awarded Best Director at the Montreal World Film Festival forTout ça. . .pour ça! (1993). He directed, among other films,Vivre pour vivre(1967),Un homme qui me plaît(1969),Le voyou(1970),Smic Smac Smoc(1971),Toute une vie(1974),A nous deux(1979),Les Uns et les autres(1981),Un homme et une femme,20 ans déjà(1986),Happy New Year(1987),Les Misérables(1995), andAnd Now. . .Ladies and Gentlemen(2002). He also directed the French segment for the internationally codirected film,11'9"01(2002).
