LAUREYS, FÉLIX ADRIENJEAN

(1820-1897)
Architect Félix Laureys was born into a brew making family in Ostend on 12 April 1820. He studied at theAcadémie royale des Beaux-Artsunder the direction of his uncleTilman-François Suys. Following studies abroad, he undertook an extensive career in designing a number of residences, especially in Brussels, as well as major architectural projects, done principally in neo-Gothic style. They included a reconstruction of theGare du Nordin 1885. Laureys died in Brussels on 13 February 1897.
