Director, film critic, and screenwriter. Before directing films, André Téchiné worked as a critic atCahiers du cinémafrom 1964 to 1967 and later as an assistant toJacques Rivetteand Marc'O. His first feature wasPaulina s'en va(1975), which starsBulle Ogier. It was followed bySouvenirs d'en France(1975), starringJeanne Moreau.

Stéphane Rideau and Gaël Morel were both nominated for Césars for Most Promising Actor. Rideau also plays the lead in Téchiné'sLoin(2001).
