Producer. After working as production manager onMarco Bellocchio'sGli occhi, la bocca(The Eyes, the Mouth, 1982), Barbagallo teamed up with actor-directorNanni Morettito establishSacher Film, with which he has produced not only all of Moretti's own films but also the directorial debuts of several of the most promising of the younger directors, among themCarlo Mazzacurati'sNotte italiana(Italian Night, 1987) andMimmo Calopresti'sLa seconda volta(The Second Time, 1995). Having already won theNastro d'argentofour times, he has most recently been awarded theDavid di Donatellofor producing both one of the most acclaimed films of recent years,Marco Tullio Giordana'sLa meglio gioventu(The Best of Youth, 2003) and Nanni Moretti'sIl caimano(The Caiman, 2006).
