XANTHE,es, Gr. Ξάνθη, ης, (⇒ Tab. III.) des Oceans und der Tethys Tochter.Hesiod. Theog. v. 356. Eigentlich ist es ein Fluß, der einen gelben Sand, oder doch dergleichen Wasser führet, und also den Namen von Ξανθὸς,gelb, hat.
