OVERFISHING

overfishing: translation

Current fishing levels may not be sustainable, and yields may be higher in the long term if the fishing level is reduced in the short term. This may be due either to growth overfishing or recruitment overfishing. Classification of a stock as \'overfished\' may continue after reduction of fishing levels while the stock rebuilds to a level at which a resumption of fishing is acceptable.
