The first Roman emperor, now generally known by the imperial titleAugustus, was born Caius Octavius; when he was adopted by Julius Caesar he became Caius Julius Caesar Octavianus. Another Octavianus was a 5th-century Carthaginian saint who was put to death with several thousand companions by the Asiatic Vandal king Hunneric.
