Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor of the p21CIP1, p27KIP1 family. Mice deficient in this inhibitor have major developmental defects similar to those seen in Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome as a result of altered cell proliferation and differentiation. Inhibits G1/S phase cdks. Encoded by a maternally imprinted gene in both human and mouse.
