F1 hybrid: translation

First filial generation - product of crossing two dissimilar parents. If the parents are sufficiently dissimilar the hybrid may be sterile (for example in the crossing of horse and donkey to produce a mule) and the term F1 hybrid generally refers to such sterile hybrids which may, however, show desirable hybrid vigour.
