LOW OXYGEN DIFFUSION ENVIRONMENT

An aquatic environment in which microorganisms are surrounded by deep water layers that limit oxygen diffusion to the cell surface. In contrast, microorganisms in thin water films have good oxygen transfer from air to the cell surface.
