RAGMAN ROLL

English term for the record of instruments of *homage made by the Scottish king and nobles to King Edward I in 1296. Later the Latin phrase indenture ragmannice was used. In Piers Plowman, ragman roll refers to a papal list with the names and seals of bishops attached. -
