PECIA

Pecia: translation

Tanner's term for a piece, used to refer to an animal skin treated and stretched, then trimmed, and ready for use as *vellum by scribe or illuminator. A section or pecia of a text was handed to several scribes, thus producing a MS quickly. [< medievalLat.pecia= piece] -
