YEVIN, SHEMUEL

(b. 1896)
Israeli archaeologist, of Russian origin. He went to Palestine before World War I, participating in various archaeological explorations. He was secretary of the Vaad ha-Lashon, and from 1948 to 1959 was director of the Israeli government's Department of Antiquities. His publications include studies of theBar Kokhbarevolt.
