VENETIANER, LAJOS

(1867-1922)
Hungarian rabbi and historian. He was born in Kecskemet. He served as rabbi in Csurgo (1893) and Lugos (1896), and from 1897 as chief rabbi in Ujpest. He was also professor at the Budapest Rabbinical Seminary. His publications include studies of Christian liturgy and Judaism, the history of Hungarian Jewry, and the organization of Jewish communities.
