(1909-77)
Israeli composer and violinist. He was born in Budapest. He became first violinist of the Lucerne Orchestra in 1924, and from 1936 to 1938 taught violin and composition at the conservatory in Baku. In 1938 he went to Palestine and joined the Palestine Orchestra as a viola player. He was appointed director of the Israel Conservatory and Academy of Music in Tel Aviv in 1953. His compositions include Songof Praisefor viola and orchestra and the symphonic fantasyEn Gev.
