PARDO, DAVID

(1718-90)
Palestinian rabbinical author and poet. He was born in Venice, and served as a rabbi in Spalato in Dalmatia and in Sarajevo. Between 1776 and 1782 he travelled widely, making his way to Palestine; he settled in Jerusalem, where he became head of a yeshivah. He wrote commentaries and novellae on tannaitic literautre, as well as liturgical poetry.
