PALACHE, JUDA LION

(1886-1944)

Dutch orientalist and teacher. He was born in Amsterdam, and in 1925 became professor of the Bible and Semitic languages at the University of Amsterdam. He also served as parnas (or head) of the Spanish and Portuguese congregation in the city. He published studies of Judaism, Islam and comparative Semitic philology.
