MARGOLIN, ELIEZER

(1874-1944)
Australian military commander. He was born in Belgorod, Russia. He moved to Palestine in 1892 and settled in Rehovot. In 1900 he went to Australia and he served in the Australian army during World War I, later commanding the Second Battalion of the Jewish Regiment. In 1919 he became commander of the Jewish Legion. When the legion was dismantled, he became commander of the Jewish unit of the Palestine Defence Force. Subsequently he returned to Australia.
