MANNHEIM, KARL

Mannheim, Karl: translation

(1893-1947)
Hungarian sociol-ogist. Born in Budapest, he studied at the University of Budapest. He initially taught high school in Budapest, then at a teacher's training college of the University of Budapest and later at Heidelberg. In 1930 he was appointed professor of sociology and economy at the University of Frankfurt. With the rise of the Nazis, he emigrated to England and became professor at the LSE. His works includeIdeology and Utopia,Man and Society in an Age of ReconstructionandDiagnosis of Our Time.
