LASKI, HAROLD

(1893-1950)
British political scientist. Born in Manchester, he studied at University College, London and at Oxford. He worked as a journalist on the Labour newspaperDaily Herald. He taught at McGill University and then at Harvard. Eventually he returned to Britain and became a professor at the London School of Economics. He was invited to become president of Brandeis University, but refused since he believed it was important for him to remain in Britain.
