German philol-ogist, lexicographer, writer and translator. He was born in Lisbon, and became hakham of the Spanish-Portuguese community in Hamburg. He later lived in Amsterdam and then returned to Hamburg. HisKeter Kehunnahdeals with talmudic words which do not appear in theArukhofNathan ben Jehielof Rome. He also translated ethical works from Hebrew into Spanish.
