IBN HAVIV, LEVI

(c. 1480-1545)
Palestinian rabbinic scholar, son ofJacob ibn Haviv. He lived in Salonica. He completed his father's talmudic compilation,En Yaakov. Later he moved to Palestine, where he became chief rabbi in Jerusalem. He was an opponent ofJacobBerab's plan to revive rabbinic ordination.
