GALANTE, MOSES BEN JONATHAN

(1620-89)
Palestinian rabbi. He studied in Safed and later moved to Jerusalem, where he was a leading rabbi and head of a yeshivah. Influenced by the Shabbetaians, he and other rabbis went to Gaza to seek purification of the soul fromNathan of Gaza. He accompaniedShabbetai Tzevito Smyrna and Constantinople. He wrote responsa and commentaries on the Torah.
