De Leon, Daniel: translation

(1852-1914)
American socialist. Born in Curacao, he studied in Europe. In 1872 he went to the US and taught at the Columbia Law School. He was drawn into the labour movement, left Columbia, and devoted himself to labour. He became editor ofThe Weekly People, and founded the Socialist Trade and Labour Alliance. Later he organized the Workers' International Industrial Union.
