FARBSTEIN, JOSHUA HESCHEL

(1870-1948)
Polish communal leader. He was born in Warsaw. He was president of the Zionist Organization in Poland from 1915 to 1918. A founder of Mizrah.i in Poland, he was its president from 1918 to 1931; he was also president of the Keren ha-Yesod in Poland and of the Warsaw Jewish community from 1926 to 1931. He moved to Jerusalem, where he led the Community Council from 1938 to 1945.
