ALLON, YIGAL

(1918-80)
Israeli statesman and soldier. Born at Kefar Tavor in Lower Galilee, he served in the Haganah and was a founder and commander of the Palmah In 1954 he was elected to the Knesset and served as minister of labour, 1961-8. After 1969 he was appointed deputy prime minister. His writings includeCurtain of SandandPalmah Campaigns.
