Philosophical author. Born in Spain, he lived there and in the border provinces of Spain and France. His writings include a defence ofMaimonides'Guide for the Preplexed, a compi-lation of ethical aphorisms, an introduction to the study of the sciences, an encyclopaedia of the sciences, and translations of sections ofSolomon ibnGabirol'sFountain of Life.
