Son ofDavid. WhenDavidwas dying, Adonijah attempted to preventSolomonfrom becoming king. But under the influence ofNathanthe prophet,Daviddecreed thatSolomonshould reign after him. When Adonijah desired to marry David's concubineAbishag,Solomonregarded this as an act of rebellion and had him executed (I Kings 1-2).
