ACHAN

Achan: translation

(fl. 13th cent, BCE)
Israelite. He took some of the consecrated spoil when Jericho was captured. Because of this sacrilege the Israelites were unable to capture Ai. Achan and his family were put to death as a punishment for his sin (Joshua 7).
