HAIR PADS

(ARTHROPODA: Insecta)
1. A group of sensory hairs combined to form pads near joints together with internal proprioceptors that are involved in the normal bearing of the limbs; also involved for measuring the vector of external forces, and contributing to orientation of the animal.
2. A pad on the compound eyes of the honey bee and between the eyes of locusts controlling the self-generated flight speed.
