OBLIGATE LECITHOTROPHIC LIVE BEARER

a reproductive guild (q.v.) where eggs are fertilised internally and develop in the female until the end of the embryonic phase or later. There is no maternal-foetal nutrient transfer (yolk provides food). There is some specialisation for intrauterine respiration, excretion and osmoregulation.
