RUBBER HAND ILLUSION

A term used to denote a variant of thebody schema illusionwhich is characterized bytactile hallucinationsin one's hand while a visually presented rubber hand is being stroked. The resulting hallucinations have been interpreted as confirmation of the apparent primacy of the visual system over the tactile system.
