QUINTANA, ROSITA

Argentine-born actress and singer, who made her Mexican film debut in 1948. Quintana worked in musicals, comedies, and melodramas and was one of the most popular performers of the 1950s. One of her notable films isSusana(1950), directed by Luis Buñuel. In the early '60s she returned to Argentina for a few films; she only appeared in a handful of Mexican movies in the 1970s and 1980s, but still works on TV (she is also a songwriter and has written the theme song for at least one telenovela, "Bendita mentira"). She was married to producer Sergio Kogan.
