URONARTI

Modern name for a site in Lower Nubia in the Second Cataract region of the Nile where a fortress was constructed on an island under Senusret III as part of the Egyptian garrison. Egyptian Khesef Iunu. It was abandoned during the Second Intermediate Period. The site has now been flooded by Lake Nasser, the lake created by the Aswan High Dam.
