Ancient Egypt

TEFNAKHTE

(reigned c. 733–725 BC)
Throne nameShepsesre. Prince of Sais. He is named as the main opponent of the Nubian ruler Piye during his invasion of Egypt, although he is not named there as a king. Despite his submission, it appears that Tefnakhte still assumed royal status and was succeeded by his son, Bakenrenef, of Dynasty 24.
