TELL HEBUA

Modern name for a fortified settlement site on the eastern edge of the Delta of Lower Egypt north of Ismailia. It dates from the Middle Kingdomto the New Kingdom. Inscriptions found there name the Hyksos king Nehesy. The area was excavated by an Egyptian expedition from 1981–1991, and the cemetery area of the New Kingdom has been examined by an Austrian team since 1995.
