MEDINET HABU

Modern name for the site of the mortuary templeof Ramesses III on the west bank of the Nile at Thebes. The temple is well preserved and contains a major inscription detailing the king’s war against the Sea Peoples. The workmen from Deir el-Medina sought refuge here at the end of Dynasty 20. The site also contains a temple of Thutmose III and the burial chapels of theGod’s wives of Amun.
