AKORIS

Atown site in Middle Egypt north of Beni Hasan and Ashmunein (Hermopolis). Probably ancient Mer-nefer, late Ta-dehnet. Modern Tihneh-el-Gebel. It is attested from the Middle Kingdom until the CopticPeriod. Alimestone quarry was located nearby. It has been excavated by a Japanese expedition since 1981.
