OTORIZUKURI

The style of shrine construction (-zukuri) represented by the Otori shrine in Osaka (the original of which was destroyed by fire in 1905) which enshrines Ame-no-koyane, ancestor of theFujiwarafamily. It is a smaller version of thesumiyoshistyle and a development of thetaisha-zukuri, with straight-line rather than slightly concave roof sides. The shrine includeshondenandnorito-den.
