CHINJU NO KAMI

A deity similar to theyashikigamiwho belongs to or is invited in to protect a specific area. Chinju no kami are traditionally found in large and important buildings including Buddhist temples and tend to become regarded asujigamior ubusuna no kami. An example is the chinju of the Kanda area of Tokyo, propitiated in theKanda-matsuri.
